A message to Australian Turf Club members: I’m seeking your vote and support in the upcoming board election this November. Together, let’s build a vibrant future for our club!
Racing has been part of my life from the very beginning. From spending my childhood at the TAB with my mother to racing my first horse while at university, I’ve been fully immersed in the racing industry for over 30 years. My passion for racing is what drives me, and my deep commitment to this industry is why I’m running for the ATC Board.
The ATC is more than its real estate or assets. The Club should be the heart of racing in Sydney, fostering a sense of community, inclusivity, and pride. It’s about building on our legacy while preparing for the future. I believe we need a strong Board that values transparency, member engagement, and careful stewardship of our iconic venues.
The proposed sale of Rosehill Racecourse is a pivotal decision that should not be taken lightly or without thorough consultation with our members. This process of consultation must be real, not token. Rosehill is an essential part of Sydney’s racing heritage and a significant asset for the Club. Before any decision is made, it’s crucial to fully review the reasons for the sale and understand the long-term benefits (or consequences) for our members and the future of metropolitan racing. The voices of our members must be heard and considered in this process.
The future of the ATC depends on engaging younger members and broadening the appeal of membership. I’m committed to making the ATC a place where all members feel welcome, relevant, and involved. By creating more inclusive events and experiences, we can make the Club a vibrant community for everyone—from long-time racing fans to those just discovering the sport.
